South African-born Juventus defender Joel Untersee is attracting plenty of interest ahead of an expected departure from the Italian giants.

The 22-year-old, who has represented Switzerland at junior level, is set to quit the club following the arrival of former Barcelona star Dani Alves at the club, with the Brazilian expected to walk straight into the first team.

Serie A side Palermo had reportedly shown an interest in securing Untersee’s services, but with no offer for the player having materialised, the likes of Serie B sides Brescia and Avellino have entered the race for his signature.

Brescia are believed to be the front-runners in the pursuit of the Roodeport-born star, who has been farmed out on loan to the likes of Swiss league side Vaduz for the past two-and-a-half seasons.

Untersee has never made an appearance for Italian giants Juventus, with whom he has been since 2011 when he joined their youth academy.

Having yet to have made a senior appearance for the Swiss national team, Untersee could yet choose to represent Bafana Bafana.
