Premier Soccer League chairman Dr Irvin Khoza together with MTN SA chief consumer officer Larry Annette announced the renewal of the MTN8 sponsorship for a further five years.

The new deal between PSL and MTN has been extended for a further five years and will run up to 2022.

The sponsorship deal was announced at the launch of the 2016-17 MTN8 season.

Dr Khoza hopes that the relationship between both parties will continue to prosper heading into the future.

‘For the past eight years, MTN has been a valuable partner to the League, and as we renew our vows for a further five years of what has been a great partnership, we hope that this relationship will grow stronger and continue to be a mutually benefiting one,’ Dr Khoza  said.

‘We thank MTN for once again trusting this strong brand of football to carry their message and to connect with the millions of passionate football supporters in this country. Through this renewal with MTN, we are once again reminded that football remains a very attractive platform for the corporate world.’

MTN SA chief consumer officer Larry Annette insists he was delighted to have announced the new deal between the PSL and MTN.

‘We are pleased to not only be announcing the extension of our sponsorship deal with the PSL for another five years but also launching the latest instalment of the MTN8 Wafa Wafa tournament,’ Annette said.

‘The MTN8 has always been about football and fans of the beautiful game, this year’s innovative prize will encourage even more fans to engage with the tournament and win their share of weekly prizes.

‘These life-changing prizes are synonymous with the MTN8 and are just one way we reward our loyal customers while supporting the development of South African football.’
