Al Ahly have officially confirmed that South African forward Percy Tau has returned to training after testing negative for Covid-19.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star was among five players ruled out for their 2022 League Cup encounter after they contracted coronavirus, the club announced.

Tau has since been isolating for over one week and just finished a two-day recovery program before joining team training on Tuesday.

The Red Eagles currently sit in second place in Group B of the League Cup standings and two points behind leaders Ismaily after drawing with El-Gouna and Ismaily, respectively.

The club has since confirmed Tau’s return to training in a statement:

Percy Tau and Luis Miquissone Al Ahly players, tested negative for Covid-19.

Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly director of football, stated that Tau performed a special recovery program for two days, before returning to the team’s full training on Tuesday.

Moreover, Abdelhafiz added that Miquissone will arrive to Cairo on Tuesday and is set to undergo another Covid-19 test upon his arrival as a precautionary measure.

The Red Eagles are currently preparing for our next game against Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the EPL Cup.
