Orlando Pirates interim coach Augusto Palacios says his side had many unconverted opportunities against Baroka on Wednesday.

Bakgaga stunned the Buccaneers in the last minute when goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke scored an audacious overhead kick to salvage a draw with the visitors at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The 64-year-old Pirates coach feels they should have walked away with all three points, but that unconverted chances had sunk them.

‘We had two clear chances at the end and we did not convert those chances. Obviously, the opponent starts playing long balls and you can see how many corners we conceded and their only option was to pump the ball,’ Palacios said in a post-match interview.

‘We tried to keep the possession and keep the ball flowing, but we lost two points unnecessarily. We need to continue forward.

‘If you don’t convert your chances the opponent is obviously going to equalise. We didn’t score the clear chances that we had and it became difficult because in the last five minutes if we had just converted one of the chances we had, we would have finished the game [off].

‘It was a difficult game and we defended very well but unfortunately football is like this and in the last minute [they] equalised.’

Orlando Pirates welcome Highlands Park to the Orlando Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 20:15.
