Ajax Cape Town striker Prince Nxumalo will miss their opening Absa Premiership match against Baroka on Tuesdays after picking up a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old striker was recently selected for the Bafana Bafana squad to face Mauritania and Egypt next month.

Ajax coach Roger De Sa confirmed that Nxumalo is the only Urban Warrior sideline through injury and will not travel with the squad when they face the newly-promoted side at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

‘The only player definitely not travelling is Prince. He had a pretty serious hamstring injury,’ De Sa said at a recent press conference.

‘The rest have a few niggles and bruises and so on, but I think by Saturday everyone else should be clear.

‘Prince is the only one who is definitely out and everyone else will be available to travel.’

The former SuperSport United striker finished last season as Ajax top scorer with 13 goals and assisted a further three from 23 appearances in all competitions.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
