Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thabo Nthethe believes that the Brazilians can replicate their stunning 2015-16 performances next season.

Last week at the PSL Awards Nthethe walked away with two honours, including the Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament and the Absa Premiership Defender of the Season award.

The 31-year-old believes the Brazilians teamwork ability contributed to his success at the PSL Award.

‘It’s great that I have won two awards with the team,’ Nthethe told SoccerLaduma.

‘It is all because of the good working relationship with the team. We did this together as the team.’

Nthethe insists that with high expectations looming over his head, he is ready to replicate Sundowns success next season.

‘I know after this performance this season a lot will be expected from me and I am ready for that challenge,’ he added.

‘I just have to keep on working hard and together as a team we can repeat what we did this season.’

The former Bloem Celtic defender was a key figure throughout the season, making 40 appearances in all competitions. He added four goals to his team’s cause but his partnership with Wayne Arendse proved most valuable to the now seven-time PSL champions.

Sundowns conceded just 20 goals in the league this season with Nthethe missing just a single match of the campaign.
