Free State Stars defender Davies Nkausu has confirmed that he will remain at Ea Lla Koto after the club exercised the option to extend his contract for another year.

The 30-year-old joined Ea Lla Koto in January and was given a deal that ran until the end of the 2015-16 season, with an option of extending his contract for another season.

After making 14 appearances for Stars last season, the defender insists he is determined to impress coach Denis Lavagne in the hopes of earning himself a new deal at the club.

‘I am staying here at Stars because the club has renewed after the saw that I can still do the job. Even with this renewal, I am not relaxing and I will be working hard for another contract,’ Nkausu told KickOff.com.

During last season, Nkausu helped Stars to a 12th place finish in the Absa Premiership to secure their PSL status for the season ahead.

Free State Stars will take on Chippa United in their opening fixture of the new Absa Premiership season on August 23.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
