Chippa United right back Siyabonga Ngubane says he is now turning his focus to the Telkom Knockout Cup when they take on Highlands Park on Friday.

The two sides will lock horns in the first round of the knockout tournament when they meet at the Makhulong Stadium.

Ngubane, who made his debut in place of injured Diamond Thopola, was naturally disappointed about the loss: ‘It was disappointing to lose the game in the manner we did,’ he said.

The 27-year-old insists that his side has to be ready and focused on taking on the Lions of the North in their upcoming Telkom Knockout clash on Friday.

‘I am already focused though on the next game against Highlands Park. I’m sure it is the same for everyone at the club,’ Ngubane told the Chippa United website.

‘Highlands Park will be a different ball game. Cup games are different, but we must focus on our preparations.’

The former Sundowns right back said he will be hoping to develop as a player with the Chilli Boys and revealed that the club’s main goal is to win silverware this season.

‘I came here to continue with my development as a player and I think I am on the right track,’ he added.

‘Hopefully, we can put the disappointment of losing the game against Arrows behind us and focus on the next game.

‘Our objectives going into this game remain the same: to compete for every trophy on offer and fight for the badge.’

Chippa against Highlands Park kicks off at 20:00.
