Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Joris Delle believes he is ready to take his place in the team, but insists he respects the decisions of Rhulani Mokwena.

The French keeper joined the Soweto giants during pre-season after the exits of Jackson Mabokgwane, who was released before joining Bloemfontein Celtic, and Brilliant Khuzwayo, who confirmed his retirement just after Delle’s arrival.

The former France youth international is yet to appear for Pirates after a period of adaptation to the team and recovery from injury.

Delle has now spoken to the media for the first time since his arrival.

’It was part of the adaptation – we try to build up [from the back] and goalkeepers are also involved a lot in the building-up process to try and suit the game plan,’ explained Delle.

‘And now I’m fit and I’m ready to come into the team. It has been the decision of the coach and I respect that, it’s not my part. I only focus on my work.

‘When the time comes for me to be part of the team, of course I will try to make my contribution but the most important thing for us is to win.

‘My part is important because it’s also my job to ensure the team doesn’t concede goals, and with clean sheets, I think, for sure we’ll get results.’

The Sea Robbers will be back in action this weekend as they look to end their six-game winless streak when they welcome Chippa United to the Orlando Stadium.
