Mothiba extends Lille stay

South African forward Lebo Mothiba has agreed a new contract with French Ligue 1 side Lille.

The 20-year-old striker joined the club back in 2014, having joined the side from Johannesburg-based Diambars Academy. Though he has so far only featured for the reserve side, the player has been steadily improving, reports SoccerLaduma.

The player scored for Amajita in a friendly against Brazil recently and has done enough for the French club to offer him a new contract, his current deal having been poised to expire by the end of the month.

The player can now focus on preparing for the Rio 2016 Olympics, having reportedly put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

Lille have produced a number of impressive players in recent years, most notably the likes of Chelsea star Eden Hazard, who came up through the ranks of the academy.
