Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Carlo Scott has hailed coach Pitso Mosimane for the side’s promising Caf Champions League run.

The Brazilians have impressed since the group stage of the competition began, despite only qualifying following AS Vita’s expulsion from the tournament for fielding an illegible player.

Mosimane’s side currently find themselves at the summit of Group B with just two matches to go, with a second round of games against Egypt’s Zamalek and Nigeria’s FC Enyimba to come.

‘You know at the end of the day, people notice the one that scores the goals and I think Khama [Billiat] has proven last season already that he is capable,’ Scott told Goal.

‘He has also done that as well in Africa the last couple of games that he has played in but for me, I wouldn’t really put it down to the players,’ he added.

Scott explained he believes Mosimane has done well to inspire the team and make the correct tactical decisions.

‘You need a good coach and I feel that Pitso [Mosimane] is getting the right combinations.

‘The players are doing the job on the field but they’ve got the whole of their technical team behind them. The chairman is behind them and in Pitso they have got a former Bafana Bafana player who is a winner.’

Scott is now confident the side can go all the way, particularly if they continue to play the way they have done thus far.

‘From the look of things they have what it takes to go all the way.

‘You know they just need to go out there and be strong mentally, and be reliant on the counter when they play away because they have proven that they can get the job done even here at home,’ he concluded.
