Amaglug-glug coach Owen da Gama revealed that Tashreeq Morris and Mothobi Mvala have been ruled out of training.

The move was a precaution from the medical team with only eight days to go before the start of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, according to the PSL website.

SA U23 coach Owen da Gama admits that he was advised by the medical team to sideline Morris and Mvala, both who have picked up light hamstring injuries, and not risk the pair getting further injured during training.

‘We were advised by the medical team to sit Morris and Mvala out of the training session just to make sure that they don’t aggravate their injuries,’ da Gama said.

Thabiso Kutumela and Phumlani Ntshangase are currently still recovering from tight hamstring muscles, while Kwanda Mngonyama is recovering from an ankle strain sustained during the Cosafa Cup.

‘We still have a few more days to ensure that all the players are hundred percent fit before our first game. Kutumela, Ntshangase, and Mngonyama responded very well to training but we had to rest them after a while as they are still recuperating,’ he added.

‘I was very impressed with Tercious Malepe, who arrived on Tuesday night but was able to participate in the whole session without any concerns.’

The South Africa Olympic team will take on host Brazil in their opening group stage match at the Olympics on August 4.
