Donald Mokondelela has insisted he remains unfazed by the stiff competition he faces from his Orlando Pirates teammates.

Mokondelela joined the Buccaneers after winning promotion to the Premiership with Limpopo side Baroka last term, during which time he put in a series of impressive performances.

Now, having joined Bucs, the attacking midfielder faces stiff opposition from the likes of Riyaad Norodien, Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge for a starting birth.

Nevertheless, the 24-year-old has revealed he is ready to face the challenge.

‘As people, we are different in appearance and body size but what we have the same is the two legs and a head. We differ in how much we can do. All of us have our own abilities and it depends how you display your own,’ the player told SoccerLaduma.

‘Football is football, names do not scare me. I have my own confidence. I am never afraid of any competition. If you are playing and you make a mistake, I will come in and take the chance the coach gives me,’ Mokondelela continued.

‘At the same time, as your teammate, I will support you,’ the player concluded.

Mokondelela made 27 appearances for Baroka in the National First Division last season, scoring four times.
