Bafana Bafana winger Mohau Nkota has provided an update on his recovery from knee surgery.

The 21-year-old suffered a severe knee injury during a training session on 11 May 2026.

The timing of his injury could not have come at a worse time, as his injury completely ruled him out of the Bafana Bafana squad for the World Cup.

The Saudi Pro League side has since confirmed that the Bafana winger has successfully gone under the knife and is currently on the road to recovery.

The Al-Ettifaq star said he is progressing step by step following the operation and expects to be sidelined for between three and five months as he works towards a full recovery.

“An update on my injury, I’m still recovering. It’s been two weeks since I had this. I had my surgery two weeks ago,” Nkota said as quoted on Soccer Laduma.

“So, step by step, you know, you just have to take your time to recover well

“It’s a meniscus. I tore my meniscus, and then I had to repair it. They had to stitch my bone.

“So, it will take maybe three to five months for me to recover.”
