Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo believes there is cause for optimism ahead of the side’s 2016-17 season.

Bucs completed their first training session of the new campaign on Monday, which was the first led by new head coach Muhsin Ertugral at the club.

Mhlongo, for his part, was delighted to make the return to the pitch, while he revealed his new coach had left a positive impression.

‘It was nice, especially to see everyone back and happy,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘We had a great session. You can see the coach and the way he has been preparing us clearly shows we are going to have a great season ahead, and we are looking forward to working with him.’

The 25-year-old is positive the side can claim silverware this term after enduring a torrid season last time around.

‘People should expect us to bring the results now,’ he claimed.

Ertugral, meanwhile, was focused on easing his players back into their routine.

‘These are soccer players and not Olympic sprinters,’ he said.

‘Obviously, there will be time for running during our pre-season, but for today I just wanted my players to reacquaint themselves with the ball,’ he concluded.
