Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says that he was delighted with his side’s performance against Bloemfontein Celtic following their 3-0 victory in the Absa Premiership.

The Urban Warriors claimed their fourth win from their last five Absa Premiership matches when they defeated Phunya Sele Sele on Saturday.

The 53-year-old believes his side should’ve scored more than one goal in the first half after creating the better chances in the final third.

‘First half we sat back and they came at us, we had to pick our moments and we scored a good first goal. We should have scored two more in the second half,’ Menzo said after the match.

Celtic missed a penalty in the second half and also hit the woodwork, but Ajax were able to take advantage of their fortune.

Menzo admits that his side were under pressure and struggled more in the second half but insists that we was delighted with his side’s performance against Celtic.

‘Second half they gave us more pressure and we had to play the long ball and couldn’t keep the ball in their half. We struggled and we had luck, the penalty miss was a very important moment. Today the luck was on our side,’ He added.

‘Let’s enjoy this one, from Monday on we start to work on our last one of this year. I am very satisfied with the performance, the way they [the players] accept things, the way they try to do things we want them to do.’

Ajax Cape Town will now take on Chippa United at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday in the Absa Premiership.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
