Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has revealed he has been impressed by South Africa’s side at the Durban U19 International tournament.

The South African youngsters have progressed all the way to the final of the competition following a 3-0 hammering of Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The side coached by David Notoane will now come up against defending champions Arsenal in the final, which will be played at the Umlazi’s King Zwelithini stadium on Saturday.

‘I think it is a good thing for our football in the country. You know I want to remind people, when I took over as the head coach of Bafana Bafana I spoke about changes in our way of doing things,’ the coach told KickOff.

South Africa has seen major changes in its approach to coaching in recent years as there has been an increased effort to optimise the synergy between all levels of the men’s and women’s national sides.

‘It is the first of its kind in the South African Football Association all the national teams qualified for major tournaments. The cabinet is now getting full day by day.

‘But the most important thing was the question of the one hand was knowing what the other hand is doing.’

The final of the Durban U19 International tournament will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Kick-off is set for a 14:45.
