Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Punch Masenamela is reportedly broke after his BMW and house in Kempton Park were repossessed.

It remains unclear when the defender lost his assets, but sources close to him told the Sunday Sun that Masenamela has gone from driving a BMW to a white Ford Bantam.

Witnesses who saw him visit his father and two brothers said he seemed broke. They also claimed he was wearing no-name brand clothing and parked his car a street away to escape recognition.

The sources alleged that Masenamela’s problems started when he ‘neglected’ his family and moved to the suburbs.

Another source has claimed he failed to make good investment decisions when he was still playing for Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns, and opted to buy a new house in Ivory Park rather than renovating his RDP home.

Masenamela has been clubless since he was released by Polokwane City in February for allegedly ‘losing his way’, but his agent Jazzman Mahlakane has revealed that the former Kaizer Chiefs defender has been training with a Vodacom team until he finds a new club.

However, Mahlakane insisted his client was not broke and that there was ‘propaganda’ against him. His BMW was involved in an accident while he was still on the books at Sundowns, he said.

Masenamela’s agent also denied reports that his client’s house has been repossessed.
