Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen believes his players gave it their all in their 3-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Abafana Bes’thende are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership table with 17 points, and have won five out of their 10 matches so far this season.

The 45-year-old coach concedes that his side’s performance was below par, but insists they will come back stronger in their next Absa Premiership fixture.

‘Playing against the African champions with suspensions and injuries galore was always going to be a big ask of us to get a result, but, nevertheless, the players once again gave it their all,’ Larsen told the Golden Arrows website.

‘Our opponents were just too good for us on the day though we gifted them some very soft goals, which is very unlike the way we usually defend but these things happen. We know we did not perform at the level we needed to so we will put this behind us and look forward to the next game against Polokwane at home.’

Golden Arrows will take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

The match at the Chatsworth Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
