Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believes his side could have walked away with three points if they had converted their chances against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Chiefs failed to build on their midweek win over Mamelodi Sundowns after they drew 0-0 with Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby.

‘I thought the first half belonged to them. They overloaded the midfield, they played more for time than for a goal, which we have to accept because sometimes your strategy is to get your opponent tired by playing,’ Komphela told SuperSport TV after the match.

‘We could have allowed our centre backs to step up and press in the midfield, but we did that in the second half, that’s why our game got better. Even in the first half we had chances, there’s one of (Siyabonga ) Ngezana where he hit the upright.

‘With the match of this nature, with a professional performance you win it on set plays, but unfortunately we didn’t capitalise. I thought we could have won the match with at least one set play.

‘Overall one point, we’ll take it. For the people that wanted goals, unfortunately we could not give them more.’
