Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is optimistic about next season’s prospects and is aware of the need to integrate his new signings.

Following a trophyless season last term, Komphela has been entrusted with revitalising the squad, while the technical team has also made additions.

Now, preparing for his second season at the helm, the coach is confident he can turn things around at Naturena.

‘I am an extreme optimist in everything that I do,’ Komphela told KickOff.

‘We need to get players gelling together quickly, we have to. Is it going to be possible? Yes. When? You never know but we have to work on it.’

Komphela admitted he was well aware of the expectations of the club.

‘At Chiefs the mandate is to win every match, it is just sheer common sense. I just went through another interview and this reporter says to me the (last) season was disastrous.’

‘You go to two cup finals [and not win any], it is a disaster because this is Chiefs so you win every match,’ Komphela concluded.

The Glamour Boys eventually finished fifth in the table following an ineffective final third of the campaign, while they lost both the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals.
