Zimbabwe captain Willard Katsande insists he is focused on preparing for his side’s Afcon 2017 qualifier against Malawi in Harare on Sunday.

According to the Kaizer Chiefs website, Katsande had to leave straight after the Kaizer Chiefs Awards to Zimbabwe for his country’s Afcon qualifier.

Katsande revealed that the Warriors are preparing and working hard to advance to the next round of the Afcon qualifiers.

‘I am now focused on the preparation for the match,’ the Zimbabwean captain said.

‘It is in our hands to pave the way to Guinea. We are hard at work, pushing, because we all know how important this game is to the nation.’

Zimbabwe currently are leading Group L with eight points from four matches, three points ahead of second place Guinea.

The final qualifying round will take place in September when Guinea take on the Warriors.

This season Katsande managed to score a total of eight goal and picking up 37 appearances for Amakhosi in all competitions.

Zimbabwe will take on Malawi in their Afcon qualifier at the National Sports Stadium on June 5.
