Bidvest Wits assistant coach Paul Johnstone believes the Afcon break gives his side the opportunity to rebuild relationships and get the players flying again.

Some of the activities that the players will partake in are gym sessions, training, friendly matches and of course team meetings.

Johnson insists that the African Cup of Nations gives the Clever Boys the much needed time to form deeper bonds with the team

‘The players have come back in pretty good shape, and we obviously have the opportunity to go on a camp now because of Afcon,’ Johnstone told the Bidvest Wits website.

‘We almost have a second phase of pre-season but it will not be as intense or as long.

‘It gives the team an opportunity to get away for a week, away from normal training and rebuild relationships and get the players flying again before the start of the season.’

When the Absa Premiership returns, Bidvest Wits will next take on Orlando Pirates in the catch-up match on February 3.

The match at Ellis Park kicks off at 20:00.
