Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele says he would like to see more Absa Premiership team compete in the African tournament to improve South African football.

The Brazilians will now welcome Zamalek to the Lucas Moripe Stadium when the two side’s meet in the first leg of the Caf Champions League finals on Saturday.

The 29-year-old says he is happy to see Sundowns in the finals and he believes it is vital for more Absa Premiership teams to challenge in the African tournament to improve football in South Africa.

‘I’m very happy that Sundowns learned from Orlando Pirates or that they were inspired by Orlando Pirates,’ Jele told KickOff.com.

‘We need more South African teams to challenge in that competition. It’s very crucial for South Africa to improve in football.’

The match at Lucas Moripe Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
