Kaizer Chiefs striker Khanyisa Mayo is determined to make the most of his time with the Soweto giants.

The 27-year-old made his debut for Amakhosi on Wednesday and managed to score his first goal for the club.

The striker lasted 59 minutes on his debut before he was taken off and subsequently replaced by Makabi Lilepo as Chiefs went on to draw the game 1-1 at the FNB Stadium.

Mayo says he is grateful for the opportunity to make his debut and represent Amakhosi for the first time.

“I felt good going into the game,” Mayo told his club’s official website.

“I have been training hard to get into the match-day squad. Everyone at the Club has been very supportive of me since I joined, which I am grateful for.

“Walking onto the pitch was a moment I could celebrate personally.

“But I was aware that there was a job to be done and I was determined to make the most of finally becoming a Glamour Boy.

“It was very emotional. I can’t really describe the elation I felt inside. It was such a great feeling. It motivates me to want to do it more, especially to help the team achieve its targets.”
