Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt says his side has the ‘hunger and desire’ to overcome Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 finals on Saturday.

The Clever Boys will now go head-to-head with Sundowns in the finals of the tournament at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

The 52-year-old coach believes his side has the focus and determination to clinch the Top 8 title from the Brazilians.

‘We have our own internal hunger and desire, we drive that through the players, through the technical staff and through everyone else,’ Hunt said.

Hunt says he will not use the recent student protest as an excuse if his side falls short in the finals but he says that Wits has been training and preparing well for the encounter.

‘The postponement of Saturday’s game left a bitter taste with me because I was disappointed that we didn’t play. We are playing for a huge prize so we cannot be looking at making excuses like that and I certainly won’t be making use of that as an excuse,’ he added.

‘However, preparations-wise it has been pretty much been the same, it has been a long week different to the last two to three weeks when we have had to play Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday. No problems there.’

The match at Mbombela Stadium kicks off at 17:00.
