The inaugural Hollywood Athletics Club was a star-studded affair where some of the country’s top athletes were recognised for the amazing achievements they made during the 2022 athletics season.

The stars were honoured at a glittering ceremony that was held at the Hollywoodbets Greyville racecourse. Some of the winners were Nkosikhona Mhlakwana who was honoured as the Male Runner of the year and also presented with the first Comrades Runner Home award for his second place at the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon and a 6th place finish at the Comrades Marathon. Former Comrades winner, Ann Ashworth, was recognised as the Female Runner of the year for her outstanding efforts where she won the Vaal and Sasolburg marathons in what was a stellar 2022 for the ultra-marathon giant.

Short distance superstar, Collen Mulaudzi, received the award for the Best Track Runner of the year for his efforts where he was 4th in the South African 10 000m Championships and also achieved a personal blistering best time of 13:50 in the 5000m. These were some of the awards that showed how the Hollywood Athletics Club’s stature has grown and became a force to be reckoned with in the South African athletics fraternity.

Hollywoodbets Athletics Club president, Morgan Shandu said, “The Hollywood Athletics Club is proud of the strides that it made in 2022. This could only be achieved with the support from elite athletes and members who believe in the vision of the club of being the best in the country and also being a leader in promoting a healthy lifestyle for young and old. In 2023, we will build on the foundations that have been laid and look forward to what promises to be year that will filled with success.”

Club volunteer of the year – Nondumiso Madonsela
Best club entertaining runner – Sibonelo Mashimane
Most improved runner – Tshiamo Maribe
Club Tortoise of The Year – Nomasonto Mathonsi
Best Short/Middle Distance Runner – Reghen Magwai
Presidential Award – Thembinkosi Cele, Andile Sibaya, Sibusiso Sangweni
