Free State Stars are faced with a number of injury concerns and could be without several first-team players for their opening PSL clash against Chippa United.

One of the most notable players currently recovering from injury is defensive midfielder Angelo Kerspuy, who made 26 appearances for Ea Lla Koto last season, reports Free State Stars website.

Club physio Ryan Coert has disclosed that the 30-year-old is currently struggling with a right ankle strain and is likely to be out of action for at least another two more weeks.

Tebogo Potsane is another player sidelined after he fractured his right middle finger and is now due to undergo surgery.

Sinethemba Jantjies and Makhehleni Makhaula are both out with knee injuries and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Jantjies now awaiting his MRI results, while no timeline has been set for Makhaula’s return.

Free State Stars will play the Chilli Boys in their opening Absa premiership match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on August 23.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
