Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael believes Mamelodi Sundowns had the belief and confidence to overcome Zamalek in the finals of the CAF Champions League.

Although the defending Absa Premiership champions lost their second-leg match against Zamalek 1-0, Pitso Mosimane’s side went on to clinch the title 3-1 on aggregate.

The 57-year-old believes coach Mosimane did not let the pressure of playing in the African tournament get the better of him and his side.

‘The CAF comes with huge pressure and sometimes fans’ intimidation, as we witnessed in this competition. But coach Pitso Mosimane held his head high. Congratulations to his team,’ Eymael told the Polokwane City website.

Polokwane City will now take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Thursday.

Kick-off has been set for 18:00.
