Former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus says losing the Caf Confederations Cup final in 2015 is his biggest regret.

The forward was asked about his time with Bucs during a Twitter Q&A, and when queried about what he most lamented about his time at the club, he revealed the side’s loss in the final of the Caf Confederations Cup in 2015 was particularly hard to bear.

Pirates enjoyed an excellent run of form on the continent that season, eliminating a host of top African sides en route to the final. Perhaps their proudest achievement was their defeat of Egyptian giants Al Ahly at the semi-final stage, a 5-3 win that saw Erasmus net a goal in the away-leg of the tie.

But the Buccaneers were unable to go all the way – falling at the final hurdle as they lost 2-1 to Tunisian outfit Etoile du Sahel.

Erasmus finished the 2015 Caf Confederations Cup competition with five goals to his name. Furthermore, he player has labelled the goal he managed against Al Ahly as the best of his career this far.

The striker also revealed he believes the late Senzo Meyiwa – who was tragically killed in a robbery gone wrong in 2014 – is the best goalkeeper he has played with.

Erasmus is currently on the books of Ligue 1 club Rennes, for whom he made just two substitute appearances this term.
