Downs remain patient in Vila chase

Mamelodi Sundowns are biding their time as they continue to chase the signing of Bidvest Wits star Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Vilakazi is allegedly close to sealing a deal with the Premiership champions having expressed a desire to leave Sturrock Park, but the final terms of the deal have still not been agreed.

‘We, as Mamelodi Sundowns, our technical team has expressed their interest in the boy [Vilakazi] to the board sub-committee since we have a board sub-committee that handles these matters and we have engaged like everybody else,’ Sundowns chief executive Sizwe Nzimande told KickOff.

‘However, until such a time that we feel there is a deal on the table that makes it worthwhile we are obviously in limbo and I am sure this will apply to all other teams that are also interested that it really is at the end of the day the prerogative of the seller to put something on the table that would be appealing,’ Nzimande added.

Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele have reportedly been requested by Wits in part exchange for Vilakazi, but as of yet Sundowns have admitted they have yet to agree terms which would suit both clubs.

‘Yes that is correct,’ Nzimande confirmed, when asked if a swap deal was on the table.

‘For us we always have to look at who their choice of players are and then consult with the technical team and say these are the players that Wits want for Vilakazi. Do you think it is doable?

‘Then we will look at the commercial value of that player and say does that make commercial sense or not. Then we look at the value of those players in relation to the deal,’ he concluded.
