Ajax Cape Town assistant coach Mich D’Avray says he is confident that head coach Stanley Menzo will take to football in South African.

The former Ajax Amsterdam and Netherlands goalkeeper was appointed as the new head coach of the Urban Warriors on Friday as a replacement for coach Roger De Sa.

D’Avray managed the side against SuperSport United at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday , while Menzo watched on from the stands.

The 54-year-old believes Menzo’s lack of knowledge of South African football might be a challenge but he insists that the club will assist him in trying to settle down at the club.

‘Stanley has been here a few months. There has been criticism about the team not playing the Ajax way’. I won’t say too much about that, except to ask whether we have the personnel for it,’ D’Avray said.

‘But Stanley is from Ajax Amsterdam, and he’ll try to bring that system and style into play. His lack of knowledge of the local game may be a challenge, but there’s enough of us around to assist him.’

Ajax Cape Town against Free State Stars kicks off at 19:30.
