Senegalese goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul has been released by Platinum Stars, according to reports.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper played second fiddle to coach Cavin Johnson’s first choice Mbongeni Mzimela after only making seven appearances for Dikwena in all competitions this season.

‘We decided to part ways with the Senegalese goalkeeper. He is not in the coach’s plans for next season,’ a Platinum Stars official reportedly told  KickOff.com.

Dikwena also recently decided against retaining the services of Tlou Segolela and Letladi Madubanya for the next campaign, while striker Eleazar Rodgers is heading to Bidvest Wits.

In his only season at Dikwena Coundoul has only managed to secure one clean sheet while conceding 14 goal in the Absa Premiership, with Stars finishing third on the table at the end of the campaign.
