Chippa United have announced the launch of the Jongisizwe Memorial Tournament at Zimbane village on Sunday.

The announcement was made by Chippa United executive chairman Siviwe Mpengesi who was a guest of Zimbane Village AbaThembu Chief, Chief Nosizwe, reports the Chippa United website.

Mpengesi revealed the launch of the annual tournament held in honour of the late Nkosi Jongisizwe.

‘It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of an annual tournament to start in August this year. The tournament is in honor of the late Nkosi Jongisizwe,’ Mpengesi said.

‘We are hoping to achieve quite number of things with this initiative among them to revive the spirit of Mthatha Bucks in the OR TAMBO region.

The club’s CEO insists that the youth will be handed a chance to prove themselves in the hopes of receiving a contract with the Chilli Boys.

‘We want to give the youth of Zimbane and its surrounds sporting opportunities. The best player of this tournament will win a contract with Chippa United.’ he added.

‘We will announce other details in due course, but my wish is for our coach to be here when the final is played.’
