Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the promotion of defender Siyabonga Ngezana from within the club’s youth development structures.

The 19-year-old follows the promotion of another youngster from Chiefs’ Youth Development, striker Emmanuel Letlotlo, confirmed the Kaizer Chiefs website.

The Glamour Boys coach Steve Komphela says he promoted Ngezana to the senior team because he has the potential to become a great play at Amakhosi.

‘Siya is a product of our development structures,’ Komphela said.

‘We are happy with his progress and we are bringing him to the first team to feel the exact pressure. He is strong and has a good chance to develop into a fine player.’

Ngezana now becomes one of many Chiefs players to come through the ranks, including the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Lucky Baloyi, Hendrick Ekstein and Lorenzo Gordinho.

‘Our scouting network and development structures are beginning to take shape,’ he added. “We are having a number of players from our development in the senior squad.”
