Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport United played out a goalless draw while Maritzburg United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Baroka in the Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Celtic got off to a bright start in the opening exchanges of the match with Musa Nyatama control the midfield early on.

The home side’s first real chance of the match came in the 25th minute when Alfred Ndengane attempt from outside the box was guided over the crossbar.

While SuperSport struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances at goal with Dean Furman volleying over from 20-yards out their only shot at goal.

The scoreline remained goalless of the first 45 minutes as both sides went into the half-time interval locked at 0-0.

In the second half, both side’s struggled to make their most of their opportunities in the final third as they looked for the opening goal of the match.

SuperSport United came close to opening the scoring in the 84th minute but an overhead kick by Kingston Nkhatha was guided over the crossbar.

However, Celtic were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute when Reyaad Pieterse brought down Dumisani Zuma in the area. Masuku stepped up to take the penalty and struck his effort against the crossbar as the match ended goalless.

Meanwhile, Sheldon Van Wyk scored the only goal of the game as Maritzburg United secured a 1-0 victory over Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
