Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has pleaded with the Premier Soccer League to give his side enough time to prepare for the CAF Champions League following their win over Golden Arrows.
The Brazilians secured maximum points following their 4-0 victory over Abafana Bes’thende at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
Sundowns face a busy fixture schedule by playing three games in seven days, starting with the Tshwane derby against SuperSport United and games against Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy.
However, Cardoso believes the league should have started sooner to accommodate their fixture in the CAF Champions League.
“We need to focus on many things at the same time, we need to focus in preparing for the matches in the best way,” Cardoso told SuperSport after the game.
“We need to rotate players and we need to focus a lot on recovery, because it’s important.
“But anyway, it’s important that next year the championship does not start so late, because this will play against the South African teams that are competing internationally.
“And I think it’s an appeal to PSL to give us an opportunity to prepare for our Champions League matches in the best way and also manage the championship accordingly because it will be very tough.”
