Golden Arrows secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium to moved up to second place in the Absa Premiership on Sunday.

The match got off to a slow start and opportunities for both sides were hard to come by in the opening 15 minutes of the match.

Arrows had a good chance to open the scoring in the 20th minute when Vuyani Ntanga sent a good cross towards Lamola, who’s headed effort went over the crossbar from close range

Highlands were without the services of the suspended Franklin Cale, which really affected their game going forward.

The Lions of the North got their first real opportunity at goal in the 43rd minute when Edwin Sitayitayi saw his acrobatic effort well saved by Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva.

Arrows should have opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when Lamola was played through on goal but the striker blazed his effort over the crossbar from close range.

However, Clinton Larsen’s side eventually broke the deadlock in the 85th minute when Danny Phiri latched onto a pass from Nkanyiso Cele before placing the ball into the far corner to make it 1-0.

Meanwhile, Gordon Igesund’s side pressed forward in search of an equaliser in the closing stages but could not break down the Arrows defence as Larsen’s side walked away with all three points.
