Kagiso Rabada will miss the second Test against England following an altercation with Ben Stokes.

Rabada carried three demerit points into the Lord’s Test after being involved in an exchange with Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella which saw the fast-bowler docked three demerit points.

Rabada was heard swearing at Stokes which was picked up by the stump microphoneand he thus picked up a fourth demerit point which warrants immediate suspension.

‘During the opening day’s play in the Lord’s Test against England on Thursday, Rabada was found guilty of breaching article 2.1.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Player and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match,’ the statement read.

The expletive used by Rabada was picked up by the stump microphone.

‘Thursday’s incident related to Rabada using inappropriate language after dismissing England batsman Ben Stokes, which were audible over the stump microphones and also resulted in the batsman to turn before walking off the field,’ the statement added.

The second Test begins on 14 July at Trent Bridge.
