Rain on day three at Newlands
  • Post published:January 7, 2018

Play was abandoned due to heavy rain on day three of the first Test at Newlands.

In the end, not a single ball was bowled on day three.

It rained heavily overnight and throughout the morning at Newlands. It was hoped that the weather would clear after lunch, and at around 13:15 Proteas captain Faf du Plessis and coach Ottis Gibson were seen chatting to the ground staff.

Unfortunately, the rain returned shortly after that, and play was eventually called off at 15:30.

Play will resume on Monday at 10:30.
