Morkel, whose highest ever ranking was third, achieved in 2010, is now ranked sixth.

Elgar, who carried his bat in the first innings for the Proteas, now ranks as the eighth best batsman in the world. Aiden Markram’s 84 in the second innings saw him climb into the top 20 for the first time in his career.

Kagiso Rabada remains the world’s No 1 bowler, while the disgraced Steve Smith leads the list for the batsmen. Vernon Philander remains fifth on the list for all-rounders.
