Dale Steyn is aiming for game time in SA A’s series against England A, with an eye on selection for the Proteas Test series against England in July.

The 33-year-old Proteas star was last in action on 3 November 2016 against Australia in Perth, when he pulled out of the series due to a shoulder injury.

The Proteas speedster was forced to sit out this year’s IPL to give him the necessary time to regain full fitness.

According to SuperSport, Steyn is preparing to be included in the SA A side.

‘My rehab is going well. I have done deep training for a month or so,’ said Steyn. ‘I am running fit and planning to go on the South Africa A trip in June’

Steyn needs four more Test wickets to reach 421 and draw level with Shaun Pollock as the leading South African wicket-taker in Tests.

The Proteas will face England in a three-match ODI in May, followed by the Champions Trophy in June. They will then face England in a four-match Test series which kicks off on 6 July.
