South Africa need 204 runs to win after dismissing Sri Lanka for a modest total at Chester-le-Street.

The Proteas have played themselves into a strong position. Indeed, after winning the toss and opting to bowl first, skipper Faf du Plessis should be pleased with where his team stands.

Kagiso Rabada struck with the first ball of the innings to remove Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne. The batting side recovered, until Dwaine Pretorius was introduced in the 10th over.

Pretorius claimed three of the next four wickets to force Sri Lanka onto the back foot. Pretorius, playing his comeback game for the Proteas, finished his 10 overs with excellent figures of 3-25.

Sri Lanka attempted to bat out their overs. They suffered another big setback, however, when Dhananjaya de Silva was bowled by JP Duminy – who was selected in place of David Miller.

They were eventually dismissed for a modest total inside the 50th over.
