West Indies have won the toss and put the Proteas into bat in the crunch World Cup clash at the Rose Bowl.
The Proteas go into their fourth match of the campaign desperately needing a victory. It remains to be seen, however, whether the game will be completed as it’s been raining in Southampton this morning and more rain is forecast for later in the day.
‘We’re fielding because of the overhead conditions,’ West Indies captain Jason Holder said at the toss. ‘We’re expecting rain.’
Faf du Plessis confirmed that he also would have bowled first if given the option.
‘We were also looking to bowl first with the nature of the weather but we assume that the whole day we’ll be playing in overcast conditions. We’re not focusing on the negatives.’

The Proteas have made two changes to their team. Aiden Markram comes in for JP Duminy and left-arm seamer Beuran Hendricks replaces spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.
Meanwhile, Andre Russel and Evin Lewis have been ruled out for the West Indies. Kemar Roach and Darren Bravo will feature against the Proteas.
