Several Proteas, not selected for the first two Tests against England, were involved in the 4-Day Domestic Series this week.

Senuran Muthusamy

  • The Dolphins spinner snared 10 wickets, including a second-innings seven-for, to consign the Cape Cobras to a dramatic collapse and defeat in Oudtshoorn.

Andile Phehlukwayo

  • The Dolphins all-rounder struck a counterattacking half-century in the first innings against the Cobras – and didn’t take any wickets.

George Linde

  • The Cobras left-arm spinner took 10 wickets or more in a franchise fixture for the second time this season. He is the leading wicket-taker in the 2019-20 4-Day Domestic Series.

Dane Piedt

  • The off-spinner took a backseat to Linde’s fine form at the Recreation Ground, but still bowled plenty of overs in conducive conditions.

Dane Paterson

  • The right-arm seamer was economical during the Dolphins’ first innings, but only clinched one wicket before returning for two more in the second.

Rudi Second

  • The Warriors wicketkeeper-batsman gathered a first-innings half-century against the Titans at SuperSport Park. He kept wicket ahead of the talented Qeshile.

Sinethemba Qeshile

  • Qeshile played as a specialist batsman – and hit successive half-centuries. Neither, however, were converted to three figures.

Lutho Sipamla

  • The Warriors fast bowler took the new ball and was particularly impressive in the first innings, dismissing middle-order duo Farhaan Behardien and Grant Thomson.

Theunis de Bruyn

  • The Test discard succeeded with a half-century in the first innings, but failed with a mere single in the second.

Heinrich Klaasen

  • The Titans wicketkeeper-batsman was solid in support of centurion Thomson, as the Titans ensured a draw.

Tabraiz Shamsi

  • The left-arm wrist spinner bowled with decent control – and ensured Warriors opening batsman Ed Moore fell two runs short of a century.

Reeza Hendricks

  • Hendricks batted in third position in the first innings and opened in the second. His contributions were insignificant in both.

  • The diminutive right-hander fell for nine in the first innings and was not required in the second. Faf du Plessis’ call for a big ‘weight of runs’ at domestic level was not obliged.

Beuran Hendricks

  • The left-arm seamer supported fast bowler Eldred Hawken well – and clinched a first-innings four-wicket haul.

Bjorn Fortuin

  • Like Hendricks, the left-arm spinner claimed an innings four-for against the Knights. If not fellow left-arm spinners Maharaj, Muthusamy or Linde, Fortuin is arguably next in line for a Test berth.
