The Proteas Women drew their three-day warm-up match with England A at the Arundel Cricket Club in West Sussex.

Proteas captain Sune Luus scored 50* as her side declared their second innings closed on 325-9, setting England A 350 to win.

The hosts ended the final day’s play on 123-3 after 36 overs.

Proteas batters Andrie Steyn (63) and Lizelle Lee (36) added just 13 and eight runs, respectively, to their overnight scores before falling in quick succession in the first session.

Marizanne Kapp raced to a 28-ball 34 but England A continued to take wickets, removing Kapp and Anneke Bosch (3).

Luus and Nadine de Klerk (43) added 56 runs for the seventh wicket before Luus and Sinalo Jafta (20) took South Africa past the 300-run mark.

England began their second innings in impressive fashion as Eve Jones (59) and Ella McCaughan (46) recorded a 91-run opening partnership before Luus dismissed McCaughan.

Nonkululeko Mlaba’s left-arm spin picked up the last two wickets to fall in the match before both captains shook hands.

The Proteas will face England in a one-off Test in Taunton from 27-30 June.
