Yuzvendra Chahal celebrates the wicket of Quinton de Kock

India need 119 runs to win the second ODI following a destructive display by their spinners at Centurion.

India are well placed to win this match and take a 2-0 lead in the six-game series. One cannot see the Proteas defending a small total on what is essentially a good pitch

Leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav combined to destroy the Proteas top- and middle-order. The hosts – who went into this game light on experience and a long tail – were dismissed inside 33 overs.

Chahal finished with figures of 5-22, while Kuldeep claimed 3-20. It was an excellent display by the slow bowlers.

That said, the shot selection by the Proteas batsmen was absolutely shocking. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock put on 39 runs for the first wicket. From there, South Africa lost their next nine for 79 runs.

De Kock and new skipper Aiden Markram were dismissed in similar fashion. Both attempted to hit the ball over the top, and both were caught comfortably in the deep.

Debutant Khaya Zondo and JP Duminy attempted to resurrect the South African innings, clubbing together for a 48-run partnership. After Zondo went, the hosts crumbled, losing their last five wickets for 19 runs.

SA 118 (32.2 overs) – Khaya Zondo 25, JP Duminy 25, Yuzvendra Chahal 4-22, Kuldeep Yadav 3-20
India need 119 to win
