Newlands will host this intriguing Mzansi Super League Western Cape derby, with the Blitz eager to maintain their spot at the top of the standings.

The Rocks can’t jump from fourth to third position, but a win will certainly keep them within touching distance of the Jozi Stars.

Cape Town Blitz

Ever since the Blitz have started talking about securing a home final, their campaign has wobbled a bit. They once enjoyed a significant lead over the five other teams, but that’s now down to four points – and the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are just one win away from equalling them.

This, of course, can be remedied with a win over the Rocks – a team that sprung a surprise win over them earlier in the tournament. It’s at times like these, when late wins count far more than early ones, that big guns such as Dale Steyn and Janneman Malan really need to step up.

Paarl Rocks

The Rocks are a far more formidable unit when Cameron Delport and Dwayne Bravo are in the mix, but fans would like to see bigger and better from them – not just ‘good enough’ showings.

Delport really does have the ability to go big, and with the chance of an Indian Premier League contract on the line later this month, now is the time to prove this. Perhaps they will open the bowling with spinner Bjorn Fortuin, like they did the last time – with great success – against the Blitz.

Late addition

Nandre Burger has really impressed since joining the Blitz brigade as a late replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje. The talented left-armer has been cool under pressure – and will face another staunch test against Faf du Plessis, Henry Davids and others.

Prediction

The Blitz have lost the impetus they had a week ago, while the Rocks are aware of the importance of talking about momentum and putting it into action. The visitors will take this one, making it two in two against the more-fancied opposition.

Where to next

The Rocks will go to Johannesburg to face the Stars. The Blitz will stay at home to meet the Heat. Both showdowns happen on Sunday.
