The Kolkata Knight Riders claimed a seven-wicket win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday and will meet the Mumbai Indians in a qualifier on Friday.

The Kolkata Knight Riders put on a brilliant bowling display by restricting the defending champions to 128-7 in their allotted overs.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (3-20) and Umesh Yadav (2-21) ripped through SRH’s middle order as they struggled to get runs in Bangalore.

Sunrisers captain, David Warner, top-scored for his side scoring 37 off 35 balls, but could not replicate the heroism that won his side the title last season.

Rain affected play after SRH’s innings, as KKR fans waited anxiously for the game not to be called off, so their team could have a go at the lowest score posted by SRH this season.

Prayers were answered as play finally resumed, with KKR needing 48 runs off the reduced six overs. A shocking start for the Knight Riders saw them reduced to 12-3 after 1.1 overs, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan all losing their wickets on single-digit scores.

KKR captain, Gautam Gambhir, saved his side from further embarrassment, as he steered KKR over the line with a 19-ball 32 (two fours and two sixes) to claim a seven-wicket victory for his side.
