Mumbai Indians extended their lead at the top of the IPL table with a five-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday.

An unbeaten 79 by Suryakumar Yadav had Mumbai pick up their eighth wicket of the campaign after RCB suffered a batting collapse earlier on.

Batting first, Virat Kohli’s men got off to a decent start with openers Josh Philippe and Devdutt Padikkal racing to 71-0 before the former departed.

Kohli only added nine runs before he was undone by Jasprit Bumrah, while De Villiers managed only 15 when he skyed a Kieron Pollard delivery into the hands of Rahul Chahar.

RCB struggled to gather momentum towards the latter stages of their innings and, despite 74 off 45 balls by Padikkal, posted 164-6.

In reply, Quinton de Kock won a nice little battle with Dale Steyn before he was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 18.

Yadav, though, anchored Mumbai’s innings and received handy assistance from Hardik Pandya, who struck a few big blows toward the end before Yadav and Pollard saw their team over the line in the final over.
